Just a reminder that Mosaic Beach Studio will be closed Nov 20th to Dec 5th. This is your last week to get your Christmas orders guaranteed on time. We will re-open on the 6th of December. Watch our blog and facebook fan page as we create a mural with the Kitikmeot Heritage Society. It's gonna be great!!

Intro to Smalti

Finally! We've gotten it together. I will be teaching a 1 day intro to smalti  at Maplestone Gallery in Creemore and sharing everything I learned in Mexico at the Perdomo Factory. The date is August 7th and space is limited so contact Suzanne and save a space asap. I will be teaching 2- 1 day intro's here at the studio but the date hasn't been set yet...watch the website...or this space!

Cuernavaca course

'56 Chevy

I'm going to try and focus more on some of the cool mosaic art that my students, friends and customers are making. Claire Vowels made this at the studio for her father-in-law for Christmas. Isn't it wonderful? Here is her story about why......

"This mosaic piece I made was a sign for my father-in-law. He owns a 1956 Chevy and enters it into many car shows and he would like to display the sign in front of his car, he is very proud of his car! It was a fun piece to make because I used Mexican smalti (beautiful stuff) for the car and the words which really made it stand out and give it texture and dimension. The background I made as plain as possible using a white swirled stained glass to not distract from the main image. He was so surprised when I presented it to him (as it was a surprise) and I think he really liked it. I would definitely use the combination of smalti and stained glass again, it gives it a very cool look! Claire "

Weekend workshop

Our first weekend workshop in the new location is March 5/6.

All Projects are $95 + GST.  Choose from one of the following:

1. small terracotta pot
2. small 10" mirror
3. 8 x 8 or 6 x12  wooden trivet
4. 8 x 8 or 6 x12  wall hanging
Our weekend workshops  run Saturday 10-4pm and Sunday 10-12am.

Holiday closure

Hey all.

Mosaic Beach Studio will be closed Feb 5-12  for a much needed break before the big move. Any orders received during that week will be filled on the 13th.

New Class Schedule

New Studio

Yup. I lack commitment...so we are BACK. For real. In a cool warehouse studio at Lakeshore and Carlaw (lots of free parking, close to the DVP and Gardiner, on the bike path...and the Pape/Union station bus stops at the door).

We will be opening March 1st in the new spot. It is NOT a retail store, but a working studio. We will have some regular hours for classes and retail purchases but the rest of the time will be by appt or by chance (ie call me!) as I am going to be doing more offsite work than before (teaching, installs etc).
